As part of a Women Empowerment Program sponsored by the Jaybharat Foundation, a group of spirited women from the Shramajeevi Foundation, visited the University of Agricultural Sciences Campus, Dharwad. This field visit was more than just an educational trip—it was a meaningful step toward self-reliance and skill development.

At the Natural Fibre Processing, Spinning, and Weaving Unit, the women were introduced to the transformative world of natural fibres and sustainable textiles. They watched with awe as simple plant-based materials were spun and woven into beautiful handloom fabrics, dyed naturally using flowers and areca nut husk—an art that connects tradition to sustainability.

The visit also covered organic agriculture and natural fertilization techniques, showcasing the importance of mindful farming for a healthier future. The women were particularly inspired by how even agricultural byproducts like areca husk can be reused innovatively.

At a nearby paper plate making unit, they saw how simple machines and raw materials could become a means for local employment and entrepreneurship. It was a practical demonstration of turning skills into livelihoods.

Led by Ms. Sharavva Daroji, President of Shramajeevi Foundation, the initiative reflected the true spirit of empowerment—where knowledge, exposure, and support come together to uplift rural women.

As the day ended, it was clear that this wasn’t just a field visit—it was the planting of seeds. Seeds of self-reliance, innovation, and unity. Like the fibres they learned to weave, these women are bound to create something strong, purposeful, and beautiful—for their families, for their villages, and for generations to come.
